Miniature Cattle Breeder

Named for the creek that runs through our property, Oil Well Branch is a small 40 acre farm, located in the beautiful rural community of Metcalfe County Kentucky. We are a married couple selling and breeding micro and miniature Highlands and Highland crosses. 

 

We started our mini Highland herd in January 2026 with bred cows from the well-known breeder "A Peculiar Farm" out of Missouri. Each Highland and Highpark cow was registered and bred by one of APF's registered miniature Highland or Highpark bulls.  Our silver chondro  positive micro Highland bull currently stands 34" at two years old.  Several of his calves should be on the ground by late 2026 and he will be our main herd sire moving forward into 2027 and beyond.  It is our goal to be as transparent as possible with respect to size and origination of every calf we sell with available lineage information, current and accurate measurements on the parents, as well as birth measurements of the calf.

We have also selected a few alternative breed micro and miniature cows to cross with our Highland bull.  We chose these cows to further achieve our goals of mini and micro in size while adding interesting color and patterns.  You can learn more about each of our cows here.

 

Our goal is to breed small, healthy, friendly and socialized mini cows, first and foremost, for pets.  We do this with daily hands-on interaction, and lots of affection. This isn't our side job.  Though we "officially" started business in 2026, it has been years, money and back-breaking work to prepare our property with the goal of creating this farm.  We have poured nearly every ounce of resources and energy into these animals and this property to create a "sanctuary" of sorts for ourselves and for them. Our calves are naturally conceived and birthed in pasture, raised by their mamas and interacted with daily from birth to provide you with a healthy, happy and exceptional animal that will bring you years of pleasure.
